Bears love fish. Watching bears fish is a most memorable thing to see. Ask anyone who's ever seen it and they'll recount for you a vivid tale.

This pyrograph reminds Patrick of his own encounters with bears while hiking in the Sierra Nevada. While swimming in the icy Tuolomne River he got surprised by a passing mother bear with cubs. He stayed in the frigid water and kept his head down for quite a long while. Thankfully the bear family wasn't in the mood for a swim that day and moved on.
